For 15 years the New Zealand Catholic Primary Principals Association (NZCPPA) and Caritas Aotearoa New Zealand have partnered with Catholic schools across New Zealand to raise almost $300,000 to support small schools in need across the Pacific.

This was through an annual event called Mufti Mania which occurred at the end of term 2 each year.

What an amazing legacy this has been.

In 2022, a new chapter begins and Mufti Mania has been re-branded as YCC Day. The name may have changed but the legacy can still live on. Read below to see the amazing impact of the event and how the solidarity of Catholic schools throughout New Zealand has had a wide-reaching influence.

A big thank you to everyone who has supported this event both in the past and in the future.

2021 Mufti Mania

In 2021 we supported a school in West Papua called Kristus Raja School. More than $23,000 was raised and brand new desks and cupboards were provided for the school as well as a new photocopier/printer.

2020 Mufti Mania

Mufti Mania was postponed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and school fundraising went towards the global Pandemic Appeal.

2019 Mufti Mania

Doputz Primary School in Bougainville (Papua New Guinea) was the focus in 2019 after the school had been closed down at the end of 2018. More than $34,000 was raised to help students and teachers return to school with new water tanks, repaired classrooms, and more resources for learning.

2018 Mufti Mania

In 2018 almost $33,000 was raised to support Apifo'ou College in Tonga.

This donation helped them rebuild roofs and toilets that had been destroyed after Cyclone Gita.

2017 Mufti Mania

More than $25,000 was raised for Nawi Catholic Primary School in Fiji in 2017.

This helped students and teachers access power through new solar panels and also source new books for their small new library.

2016 Mufti Mania

The focus of Mufti Mania in 2016 was St John Bosco Primary School in Solomon Islands.

Together we raised more than $20,000 to help the school repair school buildings and construct new classrooms and toilets.

2015 Mufti Mania

Takwa Primary School and St John's Dala School in Solomon Islands were the two focus schools for Mufti Mania in 2015.

Both needed new sport equipment and teaching resources and more than $20,000 was raised to make this possible.

2014 Mufti Mania

Catholic Schools across New Zealand showed great solidarity and supported St Joseph’s Technical College in Tonga after the industrial art classroom had been damaged following Cyclone Ian the previous year.

Close to $18,000 was raised to ensure that a new classroom was re-built.
