Working across seven provinces in Timor Leste, HAFOTI empowers Timorese women to be financially independent, giving them vital skills and opportunities to be leaders in their families and communities.

Following in her mother’s footsteps, Mana Gertrudes joined HAFOTI, a key partner of Caritas, more than 10 years ago.

With all the skills she has gained over the years; Mana Gertrudes now gets to share her gifts with others in her role as District Co-ordinator.

Your generous support today can enable more women like Mana Gertrudes to be community leaders!

Empower women to be financially independent

Hamahon Feto Timor (HAFOTI) works with over 600 members across seven provinces in Timor Leste. HAFOTI enables women to grow and process food to provide for their families and access small loans to support their business endeavours. HAFOTI’s agricultural training supports women as household decision-makers, productive small business owners and community leaders.

HAFOTI is constantly expanding, the Viqueque district expanded to 180 new members across eight production groups in 2022, while the national headquarters in Dili secured a second government contract to supply more than 14,000 jars of virgin coconut oil to supermarkets across Timor.

Along with your generous support, this programme is also supported by the New Zealand Government, through the New Zealand Aid Programme.
